Andhra Mission

Runs a nursery school for poor children and a Tailoring Institute that enables poor women to become self-sufficient.It is a four months course conducted by two teachers.

WORSHIP

We do worship the Lord through daily prayers in the chapel of the Mission center, which enables us to do our work.Occasionally we celebrate Holy Qurbana at the Chapel other than daily prayers.During the reporting year, we have celebrated Holy Qurbana couple of times in which the faithful from Vijayawada and Rajahmundry took part.

COMMITTEE OF THE ANDHRA MISSION

During the current report year, a new committee was formed with the elected members from the 6 parishes of Hyderabad region under the chairmanship of the president, H.G.Dr.Abraham Mar Seraphim at the Secunderabad Orthodox Church. The committee consists of Director, Secretary, Treasurer, and 10 members. At the first meeting held at Secunderabad under the Chairmanship of, H.G.Dr.Abraham Mar Seraphim. Mr.P.O.Punnose and Mr. Joseph Mathew were elected as Treasurer and Secretary respectively. Fr.Dr.Mathews M. Daniel was appointed as Director.
The committee met 4 times, 2 at Eluru and 2 at Secunderabad, during the year and discussed various matters concerning the Mission. Out of four meetings H.G.Dr.Abraham Mar Seraphim presided over three meetings and one presided over by Fr.Dr.Mathews M.Daniel.

RENOVATION OF THE BUILDING

The condition of the building was in a dilapidated stage.The committee felt that it is to be renovated urgently. We have borrowed Rupees one lakh from our Thirumeni for the urgent need of renovation.The loan was returned to His Grace when the F.D was matured.We are so much grateful to the magnanimity of Thirumeni.

ST.THOMAS ANDHRA JYOTHI TAILORING SCHOOL

This is meant for providing tailoring skill to the bona fide women folk of the rural area in and around Eluru to earn their livelihood to certain extend. At present we have two centers one at YSR colony and the other at Satrampadu.Demand for the same is there from many other villages, financial instability prevented us to take into consideration.We conduct four months course and provide certificates to them. Those who are unable to afford themselves to purchase a sewing machine we extend them help. After the completion of the course, many of them do tailoring at garment factories.Our committee has put forth a suggestion think about a tailoring center on a
large-scale in future if we get the financial support.During the reporting year, about 60 students completed the tailoring course from 2 centers.

ST.MARY’S ENGLISH MEDIUM CONVENT SCHOOL

Even though very late during the academic year, middle of October 2016 Pooja festival we have launched the nursery school. Chode Venkataratnam garu Ex.Dy.Mayor of Eluru inaugurated the school on 10 October 2016.We have 8 pre- K.G students for the Academic year. God willing we have to develop it during next Academic year and we are looking forward to the same.

VISIT OF PARISH MEMBERS/M.M SAMAJAM MEMBERS OF HYDERABAD REGION

In the reporting year, about 50 Martha Mariam Samajam representatives from the region visited Mission Centre and Tailoring Centers. Mathews M.Daniel Achen celebrated Holy Qurbana at the Mission Centre Chapel and all the participants received Holy Communion. 19 November 2016 the evening about 20 members stayed at Mission Centre and the rest joined on 20 Sunday morning before Holy Qurbana.Other than that twice parishioners, both from Vijayawada and Rajahmundry visited Eluru Mission and attended Holy Qurbana.We gratefully remember the cooperation extended by all of them and especially the contribution made by the samajam members of Visakhapatnam Parish, who have donated gas stove, carpet, and veil for the chapel and the cost of painting the chapel. We extend our thanks to Mr.Raju Daniel who donated a refrigerator and Mr.Reju .D who has donated a mixer and Anil who donated 5 mattresses. May Lord reward all of them.

KITCHEN GARDEN

We maintain a micro level organic kitchen garden adjacent to the Mission building and it includes Bitter Gourd, Beans, Lady finger, Ivy Gourd, Carrots, Snake Gourd, Tapioca etc. initiated by Anney kochamma and we got reasonably good yield from it.
